10/7/2023 0 Comments I hate gym resolutioners reddit![]() Soccer moms return to daytime, high school kids come back to late afternoons, runners and walkers go back outside. We get a change in demographics when the kids go back to school. July and August sees a lot of the outdoor walkers and runners move to the treadmills indoors. Things stabilize until May/June when college kids come back, high school kids are more likely to work out earlier in the day and we pick up a couple of the really dedicated soccer moms who moved to the evenings. The official end to tourist season is marked by spring break (right around St Patrick's Day). The first big drop-off is the week after Valentine's Day. I'm in North Texas so football is a form of religion and no one drives well on ice.). "Tourist season" starts in early January and Monday nights are just insane for a few weeks (although college football championships, the Monday after the Super Bowl, MLK day and anytime there's an ice storm predicted are lower. The crowd level follows a pretty consistent pattern. Now it's an independent entity, but still restricts access to only employees of certain companies and their "sponsored guests" (anyone can get in if you can get a current member to sponsor you, but you pay a little more than employees of affiliated companies). My gym is a little different as it's a non-profit which used to be affiliated with my employer. Also, like probably everyone else, I like it when it's emptier and I'm trying to find a time slot when we don't get in each other's way. I was just curious why so many people appear at once out of a sudden, what might motivate them to start/come back right now, as March is not the month where I would have expected any kind of peak. But in general, yes, I know that people go to the gym to work out. I'm also a noob, probably much more so than most, and I also started going in the middle of a busier season etc. Like, is there such a thing as gym rush seasons/months in general, except for January? :DĮDIT: Okay, just in case: sorry if the tone of my post made some people believe that I'm feeling like the gym is my territory and being hostile towards the "noobs". WHAT ARE ALL THOSE PEOPLE DOING THERE? :D Why such an influx suddenly? Is it a trend at other gyms as well? Are they trying to get the perfect summer body? What's up? :DĪt this point crowds don't bother me THAT much, I'm acquainted with my routine and the layout of the gym. My gym has an app where you can check how busy it is, and most of the afternoon/evening it's somewhere between 90 and 100 percent. ![]() February was really nice and it was easy to find a calm moment.īut now. The trainer told me which time slot is the worst and also said that half of the people will be gone in February (January being the New Year resolution rush) and the numbers should stablize then. So I joined a gym mid-January and I when I was signing up, I asked about the least busy hours ‒ I get easily overwhelmed when it's too crowded, especially at the beginning.
